This is my comparison of Society6 vs. Redbubble.

Being able to sell artwork online has always fascinated me, but running an eCommerce store and managing stock, production, and shipping just seemed too complex. But, when I found out about print-on-demand (POD) platforms like Redbubble and Society6, I became intrigued.

These platforms let you sell your art online on various mediums such as clothes, stickers, and more. They also take care of the production, shipping, and other details.

In this comparison, I’ll be looking at different features for each platform to see which one is better, Redbubble or Society6.

You can visit Society6 here and see what they offer. If you are curious about Redbubble, you can find them here.

Both Society6 and Redbubble offer quality print-on-demand services.

You really can’t lose with either of these options. When considering Redbubble/Society6, it’s good to know that both platforms are reliable and trustworthy. Artists and creatives can upload their designs on the platforms and set them for sale on the different products provided by the platform. After uploading your artwork and setting the sales, you just watch the money flowing in.

Redbubble has been around for a while and was one of the first global POD services that allowed artists to upload and sell art through their platform. They are known for having a young, vibrant, and hip following looking for unique and custom designs.

Society6 hasn’t been around as long as Redbubble, but that hasn’t stopped them from gaining a large and loyal following. Society6 also caters to younger, more vibrant individuals and is well known for printing on a range of household items such as shower curtains.

When comparing Society6 vs. Redbubble, it’s Redbubble that takes the crown. Redbubble has an easier platform to use and pricing options that put it above the rest. To see why I think so, continue reading this comparison.

Comparison: Redbubble Vs. Society6

To write this review, I looked at a few different features of both Redbubble and Society6 to determine which program was the best. Some of the features I looked at were how easy the platform was to use, the variety of products offered, pricing, customer support, and more.

Ease of Use

Society6 does offer a bit of customization when it comes to your profile, the closest thing to a storefront on the POD platform. With Society6, you can upload your designs to many products at once. But, they don’t have automatic resizing features, so you’ll have to upload the same image in different sizes for different products. This can make the process take a bit longer, and often it feels a bit clunky.

Redbubble is still one of the easiest POD platforms to use. While you still don’t have complete freedom to customize your profile/storefront, you do have more options than with Society6. When it comes to uploading artwork, Redbubble also has a very streamlined process. You can upload one image for multiple products, and the resizing feature will make them fit your selected products. There’s also a sizing guide when uploading images to know precisely what size will be needed.

The winner: Redbubble

Variety of Products

While both platforms offer very similar products, Society6 also offers printing on furniture and yoga mats, which is unique. They don’t have as many different products as Redbubble, but they cover the most popular products such as wall art, stickers, T-shirts, and hoodies. They also offer unique collections, such as a Star Wars collection that is officially licensed.

Society6 offers special collections of licensed artwork.

Redbubble has a larger variety of products and also offers a bigger range of sizes in clothing items. This wide range of products means you have more flexibility when choosing the best products to portray your designs and that your customers will love.

The winner: Redbubble

Quality of Printing

A significant consideration of any POD service is the quality of the printing. When comparing Society6 vs. Redbubble quality of printing, it became really difficult to evaluate.

Both platforms have good quality printing, and even in cases where the quality isn’t what you expected, the problem is resolved quickly. I have to say that the Redbubble vs. Society6 quality came to a draw.

The winner: Draw

Pricing

It’s possible to make money on both platforms, but you must know how the pricing structure of each platform works. With Society6, you have a simpler pricing structure.

However, that also means less control and flexibility. With Society6, you receive a 10% commission for each sale made. You can change or adjust this value. It’s also worth mentioning that Society6 does require a $1.00 signup for artists, designers, and anyone wanting to sell on the platform.

On the other hand, Redbubble is completely free to signup and start using. You also have more flexibility with your pricing and can set your commission. Although the platform recommends a commission of 20%, you’re free to set it lower or higher than this. From experience, I’ve found that setting a lower commission on smaller and simpler designs leads to more sales. Keep your bigger commissions for the bigger, more intricate artwork.

The winner: Redbubble

Customer Support

Society6 offers a customer support center where curious visitors can visit and ask any questions or raise concerns. They also offer email support when a situation is beyond the knowledge of the support center.

Redbubble offers email support, live chat support, and support via the contacts page. They also boast a response time of four hours, so problems can be dealt with and resolved quickly.

Society6 Vs. Redbubble: the Winner

From this comparison of Society6 vs. Redbubble, it’s clear that Redbubble beats out Society6 on almost every feature. It’s easier to use and offers much more customization and pricing freedom. Redbubble also offers analytics, which is missing from Society6 at this point.

However, it’s important to note that both platforms are good to use if you’re an artist or designer. In fact, there’s no reason why you can’t sign up and use both simultaneously to increase your earnings.
