VeePN is a relatively obscure VPN provider based in Panama. It provides access to a rather extensive network of servers for a provider its size. The speeds it offers are not very good – though you could do worse.
It supports a large number of platforms and provides some interesting features, like multihop (the ability to connect through a chain of VPN servers) and ad blocking – which is welcome. It also works with some, though not all, streaming sites, and its prices are fair. We’ll talk more about VeePN in this review.

Speed
Speed is always a crucial factor for VPN users. Although VPNs typically cause some degree of connection slowdown, it should be a seamless experience. I conducted the tests using the OpenVPN protocol over UDP (the default setting). Across all tested locations and times, Perfect Privacy’s average download speed was measured at 23.8 Mbps.
The servers I tested were spread across North America, Europe, and Asia. Based on the results, unless you have a high-speed internet connection (i.e., download speed 100 Mbps or higher), you shouldn’t expect a significant speed decrease. However, you may notice a slight slowdown, just not a dramatic one. Here are the average speeds of the servers tested in each region:
- North America (where I am located): 22.3 Mbps
- Asia: 31.6 Mbps
- Europe: 17.6 Mbps
One surprising finding during my speed tests was that VeePN’s Hong Kong server had the fastest speeds, despite being the farthest from my actual location. Perhaps the US and UK servers were having a rough day…
I also tested VeePN with online gaming, and the results were fantastic. I made sure to connect to a nearby server to minimize ping times, and everything went incredibly smoothly. No disconnects, no lagging, and no freeze-ups. Exactly what you’d want.

Multiplatform
VeePN supports a wide range of operating systems, even more than most. These include popular systems like Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Additionally, VeePN extends its compatibility to Amazon FireTV and Kindle Fire. Notably, VeePN also offers browser extensions for both Chrome and Firefox.
Personally, I’ve always been a little unsure about the purpose of browser extensions, as they only tunnel browser traffic rather than covering all device traffic, which is what a proper VPN does. Nevertheless, the Chrome extension can come in handy for Chromebook users.
It can also serve as a means to simulate split tunneling by routing only browser traffic through the VPN. VPN for browsers is a convenient solution for those who do not want to enable shared tunneling for all connections from the device. Although it is possible to activate VPN for PC as a desktop program or through a router. At the same time, VeePN offers a free trial mode. In paid mode, you can connect up to 10 devices to one account.
Moving on, the VeePN app itself is elegantly designed and has a visually appealing interface. Navigating through it is quite intuitive, so even users who are new to VPNs will find it easy to use.

Features
VeePN has a user-friendly interface with a simple connect button on the main panel. You’ll also find options for the internet kill switch feature, selecting the VPN server location, and viewing your current IP address.
When you choose the server location, a secondary panel displays all available country options. If a country has multiple locations, such as cities or states, you can expand the list to see the granular locations. VeePN uses a visual representation of “cellular bars” to show the ping time between your PC and each location. More bars indicate better ping time, and hovering over the bars reveals the actual ping time.
In the main window, you’ll also find a settings icon in the upper-right corner. The settings provide various options, including automatically selecting protocols like OpenVPN, IKEv2, WireGuard, and Shadowsocks. OpenVPN is set as the default protocol.
The settings area also includes a whitelist for networks where the VPN won’t connect, and there are options to enable ad, tracker, and malware blockers (disabled by default). You can also choose to launch the application on startup and automatically connect at startup.
Additionally, VeePN offers preset double-hop VPN options, such as Canada to New Jersey and the UK to Germany. It also supports Netflix streaming in many countries, with the exception of the British, German, French, and Japanese versions of the streaming service.

Pricing
VeePN offers three pricing options to suit your needs. You can opt for a $70 annual plan, a $100 five-year plan, or pay $11 monthly. They accept various payment methods including credit card, PayPal, Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, and Ripple via CoinPayments.net.
To create an account with VeePN, simply provide your email address and choose a password.
Conclusion
VeePN has reasonable speeds, and the desktop app is simple to use and will be familiar enough to longtime VPN users, while new users shouldn’t have much trouble. Pricing is about average, though that five-year deal is particularly standout, bringing your cost down to $20 per year. If all you need is a simple VPN that works then that deal is worth consideration.
FAQ
How secure is VeePN?
Let’s set aside all those “fancy” features for a moment and focus on the level of encryption provided by VeePN. With AES-256 encryption, which is used by top-notch and most paid VPNs, you can rest assured that you’re getting the highest level of security. It will protect your internet traffic and ensure that you avoid any potential slowdowns or monitoring by your internet service provider.
Does VeePN sell data?
Whenever you connect to a free VPN, all your activities get logged and stored, and this data is often sold to advertisers. By installing a free VPN, you’re essentially giving consent for your data to be harvested, whether you realize it or not. VeePN does not do this, as it adheres to a no-logs policy and is focused on getting free users who are satisfied with the service to buy a subscription. Priority – earnings from a subscription, not the sale of user data.
Where is VeePN based?
